Year 2553. The war between humans and the alien Covenant is drawing to a close. The spartans, a genetically enhanced group of super soldiers, have been all but eradicated, save for one. Spartan 117, the Master Chief. This is the setting in Halo 3, the 3rd installment of Bungie’s famous Halo series. The player takes control of Master Chief for a final assault on the aliens threatening to destroy the universe. The gameplay style is very similar to the previous two titles, but it’s the new features that makes the game so much better than its predecessors.
Halo 3 includes 4-player co-op mode for playing through the campaign, whereas the previous installments only allowed two. The online Matchmaking mode is a massive improvement over the older games, with playlists of different games and all kinds of different variants, all available on the Xbox 360.
So, cheats. Well, you’re out of luck. There are no official cheats for Halo 3, and any kind of hack used online can get you banned. What we can tell you is there are a few tips for making competitive play a little easier.
- Hover jump – When jumping, you can repeatedly press in the left thumbstick(normally how you crouch) to perform a sort of hover, making your airtime during jumps significantly longer.
- Grenade jump – This one is a bit trickier. With a little luck and good timing, you can jump incredibly high by carefully placing a grenade below the area you’re jumping. Throw the grenade, time the detonation, and if done right, the grenade should propel you through the air.
- Be invisible – You can completely disappear from enemy radar when you stop moving, right? Well you can also be invisible while moving—just do it slowly. By lightly pressing forward on the thumbstick and walking slowly, you can sneak up behind someone and they will never know.
- Sword fighting – Having an energy sword standoff is a bit of a hassle. When you approach someone with a sword(provided you have one as well), after the reticule turns red, you can quickly hit the right trigger, and then the melee button(B button) in rapid recession to finish your opponent off.
While Halo 3 may not have any cheats, hopefully these tips will have you on your way to being an MLG in no time.
